William Adamthwaite of Ravenstonedale Town died about 1700

NOTES: We are not sure who this William might be, though it is possible that he was the son of Thomas of Artelgarth and Elizabeth Fothergill, and the father of Thomas, Ann and William. The John Dalton who is mentioned in the Bond seems to be the vicar of Ravenstonedale who held office there from 1697 - 1705.  We have not yet managed to locate the actual will.

Shown below is my somewhat inadequate attempt at transcription

Ad quam quidom solutionem vene or fidolitor facionda obligamus nos et quem libot …rum so ot in toto ot in solido, havedos extores ot adminores nros firmitor psontos sigiblis nris sigitat dat viasimo primo die mensis February annoqz domini millesimo septingentesimos.

The condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bounden Elizabeth Adamthwait, Thomas Adamthwait and Ann Adamthwait, joint executors of the last Will and Testament of William Adamthwait of Russondale Town lately deceased do well and truly observe and perform the last Will and Testament of the said William Adamthwaite and shall well and truly administer all the goods and chattels which did belong unto the said deceased at the time of his death, and also pay all his just debts legacies, funeral expences and so far as the goods will extend and the law requires. And lastly save, defend and keep harmless the above named John Dalton his Executors and successors from all trouble cost or damage which shall or may happen by reason of the said goods, debts of funeral expenses and the like, that then this obligation to be void and of no effect or else the same to stand remain and be m…ful power, force and virtue.
