Quiz results

So far I have received over 65 Quiz forms - THANK YOU everyone who has already responded. However, we still need more replies from most of the lines before I can carry out the full analysis. We also need lots more forms from people who are NOT related to the Adamthwaites in any way, to create a control sample for comparison purposes. (If you would like to help, please complete Control Group B version of the Quiz form.)

The following chart shows the number of forms received from people descended from the Adamthwaites:

If you have not already sent in your quiz form, or if you know more Adamthwaite descendants who may wish to complete a form, here are the links to the different versions of the Quiz: Adamthwaite descendants for anyone who is descended from either a male or a female AdamthwaiteControl Group A - for anyone who is only related through marriage to an AdamthwaiteControl Group B - for anyone who has no family connections with the Adamthwaites

Initial findings ...

Although we don't have sufficient responses to be drawing any real conclusions (nor do we yet have a set of Control Group results with which to compare our Adamthwaite findings), I know that some of you are very curious to discover what the Quiz results have shown so far. The following results are looking interesting:

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS73% of respondents can do the Vulcan sign79% have unattached ear lobes77% do not have dimples64% can curl their tongue61% have short 2nd toes

PERSONALITY TRAITS80% often get impatient with other people77% are not risk takers70% are competitive66% are not easily distracted from tasks71% often get wrapped up in books or films

BASIC DETAILS OF RESPONDENTS
The respondents so far are very well balanced between males (50%) and females (50%) and we have had a higher response rate from the older generation: 70% aged 41+ and 30% aged up to 40 (not surprising considering genealogy tends to be a hobby for older people).

39% of the respondents were born with the surname Adamthwaite themselves, and a majority of the remainder had an Adamthwaite within four generations of themselves.

However, until we can compare the results from a control group, there is no way of knowing whether the above findings on the physical characteristics and personality traits are likely to be as a result of heredity or whether they represent the normal range.
