I was at Kendal Records Office this week and came across the baptism of a Sarah Steel, dau of Lancelot Steel and Margt Bellas on 16 feb 1791 inthe parish records for St Michael Appleby (also known as Appleby Bongate). This couple (who married at St Michael's in 1769) also had a son Lancelot, bap. in 1784 who is the right age to be the brother Lancelot Steel that Sarah was living with in the 1871 census. So I think this is the correct record for the Sarah Steel who married John Adamthwaite of thePunch Bowl.
