Bond
Obligation for Agnes Adamthwaite to fulfil requests of Wm
Adamthwaite’s Will – 1756

Know all Men by these
presents that we Agnes Adamthwaite of Adamthwaite in the parish
of Ravonstonedale in the Co of Westmorland, Thos Winder of Wray Green in
the parish of Ravonstonedale lea Yeoman and William Hawcott of Trammoor
in the said parish of Ravenstonedale and County of Westmorland Yeoman
are hold and firmly bound unto John Robinson Gentleman Official of
Catherine Lowther Widow Mother and Guardian to her son Sir James Lowther
Bart, a minor within the peculiar of the parish of Ravonstonedale in the
said County of Westmorland lawfully deputed in the sum of Two hundred
pounds of Good and lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid to the said
John Robinson or to his certain attorney in this behalf or to his
Executors Admininstrators or lawful successors or those lawfully
appointed in his stead to act in the officialship of Ravonstonedale
aforesaid to which payment well and faithfully to be made. We bind
ourselves and each of us our and each of our Heirs Executors and
Administrators firmly by these presents sealed with our seals dated the
second day of December 1756 and in the 30th year of the Reign
of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great
Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith.
The Condition of this
Obligation is such that if the above bounden Agnes Adamthwaite her Heirs
Executors Administrators or any of them shall well and truly administer
all the goods chattels and credits which did belong unto William
Adamthwaite late deceased paying all such debts funerals expences and
legacies as by law ought to be paid out of the goods chattels and
personal effects belonging to the said William Adamthwaite as specified
in his said last Will and Testament as far as the said goods will extend
and also well and truly educate and bring up William, Margaret,
Isabell Adamthwaite infants children of the said Wm Adamthwaite
committed to her charge during their minority and in all things well
truly and faithfully perform and fulfil the will of the said Wm
Adamthwaite and lastly save defend and keep harmless the above named
John Robinson his executors administrators and lawfully successors and
others lawfully deputed in his stead to act in the officialty from all
such costs trouble and incumbrances as shall or may anyways happen by
reason of any of the promises that then this obligation to be void
otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.
